I’ve heard quite a number of white South Africans make this ludicrous statement that ‘reverse apartheid is now in force’ You have to be kidding me right? People who make such outlandish comments haven’t a clue what it was like to live under Apartheid where you were shot in the head if you raised your fist in the air in protest. You cannot compare the BEE laws with the laws of Apartheid. It’s apples and oranges.

Sleep – the difference is there are no laws in place that segregrate the population. Now it is more of a backlash against what used to be the law.

@sleep, petty apartheid was an official set of laws and rules instilled by the white governments from the 1960’s to the 90’s.

In this case, petty does not mean “minor” – it is defined as the laws of segregation.

Of course it’s wrong, what gives you the impression that anyone thinks it was ok.

To answer your question “what is happening now seems petty towards the whites…but noone cares….yes? or no?” – no their is no apartheid happening towards anyone in South Africa anymore.

Everyone is free to live where they please, travel as they please, and marry who they please.

wether it be minor (IMO – petty) or major, apartheid is wrong. What part am I missing?

I think you’re misunderstanding the meaning behind Petty Apartheid. Whites are still allowed wherevery they please so no i wouldn’t classify it as petty.
