I feel sorry for Afrikaans. It is a language that was born out of people's needs to communicate with each other back in the day and (I think) was quite possibly the language created by the slaves as they learned to communicate with their owners. It is an amalgam of so many other languages, yet it is quite unique in the way it rolls off your tongue (compared to Dutch). I also think spelling in afrikaans makes a lot more sense than in English. ;) *rofl* @ Sandy!
